Sounds like a jerk to me. Frankly, I think he'd be better off not responding at all than to take an opportunity to be rude to his fans...especially if you at least sent $$/IRCs to cover the postage back.

I have got Richard a few times over the years and always got my reply back within a week or so. You read all about him on here and its simple, he wants a SSAE and you will get a reply 100% of the time. I have worked with dozens of star wars actors over the years and you won't believe some of their stories about fan mail. One guy who is now in his 90's told me a US collector sent him over 20 photos for signing and $5 for postage. Postage was double that and yet he still signed them and paid the extra postage yet other i know others who won't sign unless there is a SSAE, another guy that I spoke to said he had collected about 80 IRC as he didn't know what they were lol . You need to make it as easy for these people as possible, at the end of the day they don't HAVE to sign anything.

I have to agree with Fon. It is common knowledge that if you don't provide Richard Griffiths with a SASE then he's going to be very upset. As I stated earlier, he probably sent back your picture unsigned using his own postage to make a statement. All he asks for is proper postage and he'd have absolutely no problem signing you picture.

As for the whole "he would be nothing without us" argument, that is true to a certain extent, but reguardless of that, no one HAS to sign autographs. It's a nice way to give back to fans, yes, but no one is required to.

There are people on here that will exchange stamps with you in order for you to have the right type of postage, as well.

Some people I know even go the extra mile when sending to celebrities and send them various gift cards as an extra "thank you".

Like Fon said, you have to make it as easy for the celebrity as possible.

That is the thing though. This person DID make it as easy as possible for him. You aren't allowed to order British stamps from RoyalMail.com if you don't live in the country, which I have found out. Sending your own currency or IRC was as easy as this person could do. Perhaps they didn't know people on here would be willing to trade stamps. They asked politely. You are right, he doesn't have to sign anything. So why waste the energy to take things down to the PO just to be rude to people when you could be making their day doing the same thing? This person DID include a SAE and IRC, which was as easy as they could make it since they didn't have means of obtaining British stamps. So Griffiths literally did the exact same things he would have had to do to send back an autograph, except he only did rude things. Good that some celebs sign 20 things and don't complain. But that doesn't really go with this whole situation I don't think. I'm not trying to be rude, but I am saying that he literally did every step he would have had he sent out an autograph, and this person paid as much money for an IRC as they would have stamps.

And to" jasongr1": It is not my fault that I can't obtain British stamps here and the fact that I sent him an IRC and that he only "accepts SASE:s" doesn't justify him in being rude. But I do understand and respect your opinion.

Wow.. Cant people read? You can NOT buy UK stamps if you dont live in UK, You can NOT buy American stamps if you dont live their(i have tried,but no). Here in Sweden they dont sell IRC and have not done it for many years.. How on god can we then provide stamps?? I would love to buy som English stamps from someone on here(maybye for an autograph as exchange).

Han ska som sagt vara glad att folk skickar han fanmails, tror han uppskattar dem men beter sig som en idiot ibland och inte kan tänka på att folk inte kan köpa frimärken till England över hela världen direkt..

Mm, blev så deppig att jag slängde hans svar...tog fram det igen efter att mina vänner tvingade mig >.< Men tack så hemskt mycket för din support. Härligt med någon som förstår. Tycker att det var sjukt onödigt av honom att svara så. Det är ju inte så att han ALDRIG åker in till stan. När han gör det kan han ju bara passa på och gå in på ett postkontor för att byta ut alla IRC-kuponger han har fått i sina fanmail till frimärken. (IRC-kuponger kan förresten köpas i Danmark för 15 DKK/st.)

Hehe slänga bör du inte göra, Hur mycket man en ogillar svaret var det ändå rätt coolt hehe lugnt som sagt! Kommer dock själv aldrig skriva till han.. Oh visste in de ,men jag chansar på SAE till England och har faktiskt runt 30 amerikanska frimärken hemma som tur är

Yes, we can read. We understand that you can't buy foreign stamps online from their respective websites. The solution to that problem is to find someone on here that would be kind enough to help you out.
