Think that is probably true! When I sengot my success back he returned my SASE back unused and used his own envelope (same size) which was a really nice gesture. I also got a nice letter back too. I think he definitely appreciates the effort! Also just as a side note, 90% of the time his signature will say "love" then his signature so that's a good way to check if it is authentic or not. If you look on ebay most of them say "love" on them.

So, why would he sign a picture you send, but use an autopen when people request?

Why? Defies logic. But hey, he must like his fans if he does this as he could easily use his autopen on sent items too

I did not know but Bill Cosby send out sec, if you send only LOR. If you sent you own photos you get autherntic.

I believe if you actually write to him and he isn't filming then obviously, you have a better chance of a personal success. Otherwise a presigned or preprint.

Completely agree with you on this point! When I wrote a letter to him with my own photograph I got the same response as you did ScottishDan. My photo signed and a nice letter and he used his own envelope instead of my own!!
