I sent a SASE, one 8x10, and a fairly long letter expressing my admiration for her! This was a pretty quick response I was shocked! She's so sweet!



In person you can read what it says where the black is (though I wish she had chosen to start the writing a little higher haha)

Envelope that was almost completely destroyed thanks to this weather!!! (but my photo is intact so I don't really care)

As I have ALWAYS said guys, if you're going to claim fake/real and there is differing opinion, then provide some evidence.

That being said, the argument of it being "disrespectful" because she's just died made me laugh, it hardly makes a difference in a discussion over genuine nature of autographs. Of course this could all be negated if people would stop feeling the need to either post old feedback on the day of a death, or posting on old feedbacks. There's discussion forums for a reason and that's where thoughts on celebs who have died belong.

if you would check the date of the posting it was in MAY which was BEFORE she died. I didn't post an old one because she died. It is disrespectful to come out here and start talking badly about her and saying mean things to some of her true fans. I honestly don't care what people believe to be real or not because all that matters to me is my own opinion. (I post on this site because I can and because you get entered for the contest!) I asked all of you to leave this post and yet you continued to post anyway. I said it was disrespectful and it hurt me to read such nonsense and yet you replied anyway. I happen to be a major fan of Esther and have been my whole life. I literally was in tears for hours after hearing of her death and I literally just stayed up 24 hours to watch TCM's 24 hour marathon of her movies despite the fact I already own them anyway simply because I wanted to feel closer to other fans knowing they were watching it at the same time as me. So yes, IT IS disrespectful to say things.

She's dead so what the hell does it matter if you think an autograph is fake or not? It doesn't! No one can send to her anymore, clearly!

why don't you guys show us some proof that they're authentic?

Erik, they've displayed their images, if they're fake, then it's easy enough for those who know for sure to post the evidence.. At no point did I say it was/was not real, what I did ask for was evidence to prove the opinions being put forward as without proof will lead to nothing but the same posts over and over again. That is, presuming you can deal with me having an opinion without rushing to badmouth me on other forums.

I was being sarcastic no need to write a novel. I really don't care as I haven't tried her ttm myself but for a old lady she had a to neat handwriting + signature

I haven't said **** about you on other forums, just saying. but you have given me several reasons to do it

my grandmother was 92 and had 3 strokes and wrote neater then what was on my photograph, so that is a pathetic reason.

First congrats on the photo and RIP Esther Williams......Second I have seen PSA authenticate the Doris Day TTM's and the Jerry Lewis ones from TTM so they are hardly a clear choice. Third my in person autograph looks alot more like the original posters then the numbered print with Tom and Jerry though I do know that is real as well.
I also got a photo TTM last year that in fact was a secretarial and looked nothing like the original posters signature. I even thought when I clicked to read it what I had expected to see and it looked nothing like my secretarial and a whole lot like my in person signature.

What I believe is that sometimes Esther's wasn't authentic and sometimes it was, I believe mine was authentic because the handwriting is so close to other in person autographs I have seen including my aunt who met her at the TCM festival that she went to. I think in part it had to do with the fact I sent her a 3 page fan letter.

btw majorly jealous you got to meet her she is one of my idols and I would have killed to meet her My aunt got to meet her and she said she was so nice and lovely and just everything I always thought she would be and she told her that I was like her biggest younger fan she has ever had and she apparently smiled and told her to tell me thanks so all these people saying that this is fake is kind of ridiculous to me.

I even love your photo choice, what a great success, I'm jealous! I loved her work also and was sad at her passing, I remember as a child growing up my grandma always watching her films which was how I got exposed to Esther. She will be missed. CONGRATULATIONS again!!

thanks. I loved that picture too I was so happy to find it...it is a sad world right now. I'm still grieving over her passing! I stayed up for 24 hours to watch the TCM marathon and I'm still awake somehow... haha

A few things, because it's possible you're not quite thinking things through. At no point did I say it was fake, I asked for those commenting to back up their opinion. She may be dead, but it doesn't mean her signature cannot be sold and/or traded by members and as such it's quite important to know the real vs non gen argument. I didn't imply that YOU posted as she died, but many do this every time someone passes away. If you want to use the argument that you can post on here because you "can" then it might be wise to not follow it by telling other people they can't post. The bottom line though is that it is not disrespectful to someone who has died to discuss authenticity of autographs. If that's your opinion, all fair and well, but maybe the internet isn't the place for you if you can't handle comments.

I never got to meet her but have heard numerous bad stories about her signing IP. Sad loss though.

Motivatedsoup Congratulations on your great success and emotional one too as it has come at a time when Ms. Esther Williams is no longer with us which is very sad. May the great legend Rest in Peace.
My friend had got her in person autograph some years ago and it was exactly the same as the one she sent by Post. A very genuine lady who sent genuine autographs. We should be thankful for the effort she took instead of some critics here saying its a fake. God bless Ms. Esther.
