Ian Scott Anderson MBE (born 10 August 1947) is a British musician, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist best known for his work as the lead vocalist, flautist and acoustic guitarist of British rock band Jethro Tull. Anderson plays several other musical instruments, including keyboards, bass guitar, bouzouki, balalaika, saxophone, harmonica, and a variety of whistles. His solo work began with the 1983 album Walk into Light, and since then he has released another five works, including the sequel to the Jethro Tull album Thick as a Brick (1972) in 2012, entitled Thick as a Brick 2.

Ian,
I met you at the Grande Ballroom in Detroit when you had finished your set and was walking around. We talked a little and told you how I enjoyed your show. That show was $3.50 to get in 1969 or 70 not sure. I still have the small poster that they handed out. I also saw you again maybe at Cobo Hall which at the time was a larger venue. Anyway, just wanted to share that with you. I'm now 75 and can say I've seen 110 different groups, and glad to say you're one of them.
