Strange John Lackey Failure (Boston Red Sox)

Sometime shortly before the season started I sent a LOR, SASE, and baseball card to John Lackey @:

About a month and a half ago I got a letter back from the Red Sox in their own envelope. Inside it, was a generic letter from John Lackey saying how he can't respond to all his fanmail. At the end of the letter, he said I hope you enjoy my official team photo. The weird thing was that there was no photo enclosed and I didn't get my baseball card back.
Then today, (6-30-11) I received the same Red Sox envelope, with the same generic letter from Lackey, only this time I actually got the official team photo with a PP autograph on it and my baseball card back unsigned.
-Would've much rather just had a RTS so I could've re-used my SASE.
