You photoshopped the letter in that picture, right?

That's not seriously the letter you sent him, right?

Please tell me that's right...

lol

Dear (Fill in the blank)

I think you are great. I don't think you are great enough to go into any specifics about why I think you are great, or to personalize this letter in any meaningful way but I like free stuff. Alas I didn't think enough of you to send you a photo to sign, but I did create this generic request that I clearly send everyone and I'd really like a free photo personalized to me. I'm sure you have nothing better to do than to send out free photos to all your fans right? I said I'm a fan already right?

Sincerely

Shaun

Close, only your letter was longer and more specific than Shaun's original.

I thought perhaps if I gave him a little more to go on, he might have a better chance of "getting" it.

I think it's a pretty safe bet that if you don't even try to disguise the form letter by typing the person's name in instead of writing it by hand, you're not going to "get" it, regardless of how much you have to go on.

I meant "get" a clue. Not "get" an autograph. Not sure if that was clear from my previous post.

I think he needs to radically change his entire approach. No question about that. Actually write a thoughtful and sincere letter specifically geared towards each individual that clearly states why he's a fan, and demonstrate that he's not just culling for free autographs with a generic, poorly conceived and blatantly obvious form letter. Which clearly he was. I'd be astounded to hear that he ever has any real successes with that approach. Heck - I'd assume even secretaries would ignore that one.

I have tried to advise Shaun (as many of us have) to try and develop his LOR writing, but he doesn't seem to care. It is letters like that which give collectors a bad name, but if that's how he chooses to do it, along with sending four letters at the same time to the same person, then it's his choice.
