Third name in my Internet History Collection, after the inventor of Internet, Vint Cerf, and Scott Fahlman, the father of smiley emoticon

see the autographed photos here:
http://autographvip.blogspot.ro/2013/12 ... -also.html

Sir Timothy John "Tim" Berners-Lee, also known as TimBL, is a British computer scientist, best known as the inventor of the World Wide Web. He also uploaded the first… picture to the internet. Imagine that :)

sent 4 photos to Sir Berners-Lee on October 13, 2011
received all 4 back signed December 9, 2013
waiting days TOTAL: 788

used his address from Cambridge, MA:
32 Vassar Street
MIT Room 32-G524
Cambridge, MA 02139
USA

Waiting to hear back from:

- Ray Tomlinson, inventor of the email. He used the @ sign to separate the user from their machine, which has been used in email addresses ever since

- Leonard Kleinrock played an important role in the developing the precursor to the internet. Kleinrock claims to have committed the first illegal act on the internet having sent a request for return of his electric razor after a meeting in England in 1973. At the time, use of the internet for personal reasons was unlawful

-Lawrence Roberts developed the first computer-to-computer network that could communicate via data packets

- Robert Kahn is an internet pioneer engineer and computer scientist who, along with Vinton G. Cerf, invented the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and the internet Protocol (IP), the fundamental communication protocals at the heart of the internet

Cheers :D 8)

" To be honest, I think autograph collection is a silly hobby and a big waste of time for all concerned."

Wow, what a lovely man he is. Some might say being a computer scientist famous for inventing a smiley face is equally a waste of time.

I agree with him being an a**.

But he's done a lot more than just inventing the smiley, and I get the feeling that if the fame came from one of his other, more serious projects, he might be more willing to sign..

After all, he is, by no means a stupid man. I'm sure he is aware that it takes more time to email someone a link to that post than to sign an autograph request sent to him with a SASE... It seems to me that it's more likely that he's not happy about going down in history solely for that accomplishment, despite his many others.

But because of that one line, he disgusts me.
