I wrote to Dick Van Dyke on 27 Dec 2013 at:

23215 Mariposa DeOro St.
Malibu, CA 90265

I sent a 3X5 card, an old B&W Headshot, a color shot with a Sag award and a SASE

On 11 Feb 2014 I received both 8X10s personalized to me.

Sorry still using dial-up so I cannot upload a scan.

Sorry to tell you this, but it's most likely a secretarial. He's been sending out secretarials for many years now.

Not having been present when the photos were signed I cannot swear that he actually put pen to picture. However after comparing the signature to others that claim to have been signed in person either Mr. Van Dyke did sign them or his secretary does an amazing job of matching his handwriting. For me, I am satisfied that Dick Van Dyke did in fact sign my pictures.

And that is the end of it.

Secretarials are always sent through the mail. Your only chance for a real signature is in person.

He is trying to save people from getting fakes and wasting their time, money, envelopes, letterheads, pen ink etc...

I WISH someone like cj were around when I first started in 2000. I probably had 90 % fakes from my first years of collecting and I have many fake DVD autographs in my collection.

With Dick, it will probably come out after his death like Charlton Heston. Like Heston the signatures are similar in attempt at the same style but to the serious collector, are very much different.

Here are two great links:

This is one I think has been mentioned before, of his fanmail pile. The caption is very true!

Here is, what seems to be, a one on one situation where Dick took his time with the fan.

I guess he wasn't "at a desk, taking his time to neatly sign the autograph"
No, it's that his ttm autographs are fake and different than the IP.

THANK YOU CJHANSON.
