So I wrote to the legendary actor/comedian Rik Mayall back in August 2013, star of comedies such as The Comic Strip Presents, Bottom, The Young Ones, Blackadder, and voiceover of The Jellikins.

I'm delighted to say I heard back from Rik over the weekend on 12th April 2014. I sent him a letter of request, SASE, and three photos. He signed and personalised two out of three of the photos (the remaining one was a bit of a grainy one of him as Lord Flashheart in Blackadder, so don't blame him not signing it), and he returned my letter, writing a quick apology note on the back of it for me. What a guy! Very pleased with this!

So, where did you get the pics you sent Rik to autograph? I am going to write him but not sure if I can just print pics off the internet or should purchase them or what. Also, living in the US I am sort of confused as to the best way to make sure I have enough postage. Any guidance would be appreciated.

I always get my photos from Google Images. I would imagine you must be pretty gutted right now I am so absolutely saddened by today's news.

My favourite comedian of all time, never got around to writing to him. Ade Edmondson must be absolutely devasted.

I cried his agency said to me that they'd send me an autograph next time he was in the office. Never happened :'( RIP Rik, I am proud to say I am a fan of you and i always will be

I luckily heard from him late in April. Rik Mayall was the biggest part of my childhood and when I found out he passed away, I felt my heart break and I was saddened. In his memory, I am creating a lovely framed collage with my autographs I received from him. It should be done within a few days.
