For autographed photos for Cassandra Peterson ("Elvira, Mistress of the Dark")---sent two photos, SASE, and request for autograph on April 19th. Both pictures were returned unsigned, received April 26th, with a "fan club" letter stating that Cassandra (Elvira) is "unable to accommodate all the requests for free signed photos". The fan letter directs you to
http://www.elvira.com, where a picture can be purchased (signed) for $45.00 each.

Sorry about the failure.
And $45 for a signed photo? I mean, I can understand $20 and even $30 for a signed photo, but $45 for one? Crazy!

It all depends on which convention you go to. In general, comic conventions are usually much more expensive..sometimes insanely so! Horror conventions are usually much more reasonable. An autograph from her was twenty and a pic was ten at Crypticon in Seattle last year. I know Sigourney Weaver was in Calgary for a comic con this weekend and I was scared to even look at her prices, given how much others cost there.

Yikes! As a GenXer I've been a fan of hers for ages but let's be real - she's a relic and only a few of the older Gens know who she is. The fact that she's charging in the first place is nuts much less how much she's charging. If I can get a free auto from A-lister's I'm not sure how she justifies insulting fans with sending mail back and demanding payment. Now I won't bother following anything else she does - not that it's much these days anyway.

The bottom line is that she feels that her time is worth $65 to sign an autograph. As someone else pointed out, she always has long lines at shows so the "no one knows who she is" is nonsense. If it's not worth $65 to you then don't pay it.
