Wells was born in Reno, Nevada, where she attended Reno High School. She later attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, where she majored in chemistry. She transferred to the University of Washington in Seattle, where she graduated in 1960 with a degree in theater arts and design. She was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority.

In 1959, Wells was crowned Miss Nevada and represented her state in the Miss America 1960 pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey

In Hollywood, Wells made her debut on ABC's The Roaring 20s and was cast in episodes of such television series as 77 Sunset Strip, The Cheyenne Show, Maverick, and Bonanza, before she took the role of Mary Ann on Gilligan's Island. She reprised her character in the various Gilligan's Island reunion specials, including three reunion movies Rescue from Gilligan's Island, The Castaways on Gilligan's Island and The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan's Island.

She also appeared on Wagon Train, Bonanza, Tales of Wells Fargo, 87th Precinct, Surfside 6, Hawaiian Eye, It's a Man's World, Laramie. Burke's Law, The Invaders, The Wild Wild West, The F.B.I., Vega$, The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, ALF, Herman's Head, Three Sisters, Pastor Greg, and Roseanne.

She is quite busy at the moment with some signing events but hope she can sign for you soon and she didnt ask for money so in my case i can say its a free autograph .....not sure if she charges for fans or something usually .....You can buy through her site too ,she is a hard one and a legend

I don't know if I would call her a legend. Marilyn Monroe, Bette Davis, Jack Nicholson come to mind as legends.

Of course i agree that Marilyn and Bette are legends ,not sure about Nicholson ,he is a great actor and star but a movie legend ....not sure ....about Ms Wells ,she has a large and great career in tv shows and also was a beautiful woman ,full of class and style and her handwriting and signature are wonderful ......We still have alive a few living legends ,Doris Day ,Maureen O,Hara,Kirk Douglas,Olivia de Havilland,Julie Andrews,Kim Novak ,Sophia Loren ,Brigitte Bardot ...these are BIG NAMES

OK I can see you have a soft spot for Dawn Wells but you have to admit that jack Nicholson is a bigger name than dawn wells. Sidney Poitier I would also say is a living legend and Robert Redford .
