Declining help with addresses?

Unread post by mwmiller »

I notice an increasing trend of no responses (or very slow responses) to folks who use the board to request and address or to inquire about whether a listed address is still current. Are more moderators needed or are there too many requests to handle? It wasn't that long ago that requests were responded to within a couple of days, now it seems much longer, if at all.

if the addresses arent in the database, someone would need a subscription to a pay site to find them, there used to be a few mods that had those, but I think their all gone now. Id have about the same chance of finding the addresses as you would.

Recently, more requests have been handled with posted addresses. Thanks to those who are assisting.

From what I have noticed the last couple of months of lurking this forum seems to have a lot of people who only care about themselves. If they get an autograph success first then they will confirm that the address is correct. Saw one person that has nearly 2000 autographs. Must have wasted thousands of dollars to get those for photo costs or TTM costs. I am sure they are thinking they will make some money back one day. Or else why waste it on something you will turn around.

But hey it is all about the money for them if they admit it or not. Nobody actually gets autographs for the thrill of it. That is like collecting comic books, baseball cards or rare coins for the fun of it. Would be a very poor investment of resources. Everyone on here will some day go for the profit. They just are embarrassed to admit it cause it makes them look bad to those who still believe they would ever sell them.

Not sure if your refering to me on this one, but I can tell ya, I am in this hobby because of the 'Thrill'!! ;-) & I've never thought of selling any of my collection. I'm collecting because I simply enjoy it and plan on passing my whole collection down to my future kids one day to enjoy as well. What they do with them is their decision, but as long as I own them, their not going anywhere. {up} & so what if I 'wasted thousands of dollars' on collecting, that's not the point. It's the stories and memories behind every success I've got that make this hobby special to me.
