Europe & Russia *CALLING ALL PEOPLE FROM EUROPE/RUSSIA*

Unread post by AutographGirly »

Hiya All!

In school, [social studies] we are studying Europe & Russia. (We just finished Eastern Europe, We are now doing Western Europe and Russia) We are, however, still studying Eastern Europe in spare time.

I think its really neat there. The countries I've found the most fasinating are Sweden, Greece, Italy, UK, Spain and France.

But I saw alot of members here live in Europe!
I was thinking of doing an extra credit project; for social studies on Europe & Find some info out.

Do you all have certain customs?
Are you studying the USA? What did you find interesting about over here?

I think this will be really cool to share with my social studies class.

Any info is great! :D

I'm in the UK, don't do social studies but I spose the closest I would come to that kind of thing is in History, can't say I've done any American History yet. Mainly just Nazis and Tudors :P I spose its different from school to school though, most of what I've learned about things in America has come from the TV shows :P

As for customs...we've probably got a load of weird ones. Like the cheese thing they do somewhere...

Hey, I'm from England. Last year we did a topic about the American West - and I found it really interesting about the battles and traditions of the Plains Indians and the truth about cowboys!

In terms of customs, we have bank holidays such as May Day (1st May), Boxing Day (26th December) etc. We tend to have a 1 or 2 minutes silence at 11am on the 11th November to remember those who died in the World Wars.

Hope this helps you! {up}

Hi Nicole :D

When it comes to customs we celebrate 17th May, out national day. We get dressed up in out “Bunads” (they are very different, depending on where in Norway you live) and got out and walk in the many parades. With all schoolchildren from 1–7th grade.

Then we eat hotdogs and sing and play games. The high school band plays in the parade and they have a concert in the afternoon.

Between Christmas and New Years children vill dress up as Santa and his helpers and go knocking on doors and song Christmas carols and ask for candy (it’s almost like Halloween)

If you want to see some pictures of different bunads, you can check out this link:

We do not study the USA, but what we do find interesting is how huge your cars are!!!! LOL!!!!!

I hope this helps…
