Fan Letter

Danny:

First Fan letter ever in 56 years of life:
1) I am an old retired military lawyer and I have never written a fan letter to anyone.
2) You made a significant impact on my life since high school in Hawaii (graduated 1986). I loved your original albums and they were formative for me (Only a Lad, Private Life, Nasty Habits, Nothing Bad Ever Happens to Me, etc.). One live show Honolulu.
3) My best friend in college (U.S. Naval Academy also from Hawaii) was also a fan and and we appreciated your works and went to a couple live shows around the country.
4) Fast forward 30 years… I’m 56 now and want you to know that your work with Oingo Boingo ranks with my other favorite bands: Clash, Green Day, Social Distortion, Offspring: It made me happy recently when I watched old interviews on youtube and you called Oingo Boingo ‘punk’.
Over the years I appreciated your work on movie scores especially with Tim Burton, but at heart I am a fan of your early work with Oingo Boingo. All your movie and TV scores were amazing, but for me, nothing can top boarding high school where my classmates played “Only a Lad” in the dorms in the 80’s (I was an Eagle Scout and appreciated the artwork too).
5) For my first job after college, from 1991-1994 I worked on the Navy Flagship in the Mediterranean and we routinely hosted international diplomatic events. Chuck Barris knew our Admiral and was routinely a guest of honor in Monaco or St. Tropez where he would host big parties at his house after our event. I tried to ask him about Oingo Boingo from his TV show days each year, but never got a satisfactory response=(
6) How the HELL are you so muscular now? I saw the videos of you at Coachella and felt very inadequate. Are you taking creatine or something? You appear to be in better shape at your age than I am, even when I lift and eat protein, at 56!
7) I don’t need an autograph or response. I just wanted to send my first ever fan mail since no entertainer has had a more significant impact on my life. Thanks for all your hard work!
