Kevin Spacey via The Old Vic

Unread post by mymymy »

I have got Kevin a few times in person at the olv vic theatre in london but as he only signs programmes or autograph books I have wanted him to sign and personalise a photo for me for ages now.

Before his stint at The Old Vic earlier this year in Speed The Plow which ended at the end of April I had sent a request to him twice via The Old Vic where he artistic director, once around a May 07 and again during Speed The Plow in April this year.

I have looked at TTM successes from him on this site both via the Old Vic and via a couple of venues in America. One via the old vic took nearly took 2 years and another 18 months which still gives me kind of hope but others via venue in America seem to come back within a month or two while the play is still running or shortly after it has ended.

I had high hopes that he would reply to my letter either during his stint during 'Speed The Plow' or shortly after - this has not happened.

I assume he deosnt reply to all his fanmail and dont know how wher he would start as he must get so much. He might just pick a few at random - I hope he doesnt bin the rest. Im sure the must get double the amount of fanmai at the Old Vic: those who write while he is in a play there and others who write to him whenever as a primary addresss.

My question basicllly is should I wait and be patient and hopefully get a reply or be persistant and keep sending requests?

His not all that great at answering via the old vic, I've written twice to him and nothing, you have been very lucky, to get his autograph, at all, because he can be very grumpy at times, he has even said to people, that signing autographs is not written, in his contact {down} what a dope he is :mad:

Spacey is accomodating when it comes to signing when he is appearing at the Old Vic. However when he is not appearing, I think he may well be in the USA, and therefore not here top pick up his mail.

As with all celebrities, I cannot say how they handle their mail, but I presume that it is kept there until he next returns. That's my guess at least.

I suggest that you wait until he is performing there again, and try sending it then.

thanks

I assumed though that Kevin didnt just work when he was perfoming thier but his role as artistic director meant he spent a lot of the time in the UK.

I will take your advice and perhaps send when he is next appearing thier. It is a difficult situlation- Im sure he gets so much mail throughout the year but when he is perfoming thier he proberly gets even more. Im not going to be obsessive and send him another request (at least not for now) because there is still hope as long as the mail isnt destroyed because they have been successes via the old vic that have taken a good 2 years.

We live in hope {thumb2}

I'm surprised you think he is grumpy, when I got him IP at the Old Vic he was very charming and friendly to everybody.

mymymy I suggest you wait awhile, he must get a lot of fanmail and he spends half of his time in the US and half in the UK so he's really busy. I think seeing as he's an A-lister we should be grateful he signs authentically at all rather than sending PPs. Plenty of big stars wouldn't bother at all.

I also want a TTM success even though I have an IP signed programme, as I like photos for my album. I feel very lucky to have the IP one though, so anything else is a bonus.
Recent successes: David Tennant (IP), Catherine Tate (IP), Steven Moffat, Professor Brian Cox, Peter Jones, James Fleet
