Today I have been surfing the web a bit, checking out whatever there is to check out. Starting my search at Leonardo DeCaprio's hit "Shutter Island" I ended up at biological warfare/experimentation and how the U.S. has been utilizing people as guinea pigs for such experimentation. I know this to be true, for John D. Rockefeller himself admitted that the Department of Defense has used hundreds of thousands of military personnel in human experiments and for intentional exposure to dangerous substances for at least 50 years (1994). Other involvments have either exposed themselves or were released to the public afterwards. Although there are some other things I would like to discuss here, I'd simply like to ask if any of you find oddity in what I am about to show you.
I am quoting directly from http://www.apfn.org/apfn/experiment.htm , the site I found while looking around the net.
"1940 Four hundred prisoners in Chicago are infected with Malaria in order to study the effects of new and experimental drugs to combat the disease. Nazi doctors later on trial at Nuremberg cite this American study to defend their own actions during the Holocaust."
"1945 Project Paperclip is initiated. The U.S. State Department, Army intelligence, and the CIA recruit Nazi scientists and offer them immunity and secret identities in exchange for work on top secret government projects in the United States."
I don't know what to think of it, so please help me understand or give your insight.

Re: Biological Experimentation
The way I see it is that this is something that has been going on for a long, long time and will continue to happen. You can go back to the early scientists, they would test theories and new drugs on themselves, not always with the best results. Its a progression from there really, people want to know what the effect of something is and so they use it on someone. Can't always agree with the ethics or morals, but then some of those examples go a long way back when ethics and morals were different. All you can hope is that the majority of what continues today is done with consent and with proper precautions and with the proper motivation.
Last year one of our lecture courses did a bit on this, and theres a slightly lighter video around of a (failed) trial by the army to use LSD as a weapon:

Something like this though, I think you have to be very careful about what is being claimed (on websites especially). With this kind of thing its very easy to spin. For example, when it says that someone didn't know they were taking something - does that mean they didn't know that they were involved in a test, or that they didn't know they were taking the drug and not a placebo? Most pharmaceutical trials have to be taken with the volunteer not knowing if they are taking the real drug or a placebo, otherwise you can't tell if its having a real effect, or psycosomatic. That website in particular appears to be very, very biased and would probably not be the best place to build your opinion from.

Re: Biological Experimentation
Thanks for your input. Some things are still unacceptable no matter how you put them (I still don't think nazis are a very good reference for drugs), like when the Clinton Administration ordered military personnel take drugs regardless and against thier will, with or without their knowledge. GWI (Gulf War Illness) was not just a theory or opinion, so I can assume other things can be true as well. I did some recent research on the side and varify the hiring of former Nazi doctors.
