I waited 3 years to get Henry Ian Cusick's autograph (Dezmond from LOST).
From the postmark on the envelope he sent my autograph the day after Christmas this year, and I wrote to him in 2007.
That's the longest wait I've had, but it's also the reason I started collecting again
So yeah, I guess you should never give up hope!

The longest I've waited before getting a success was seven years.
A year or two is not that uncommon.

I sent a request to Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen in the summer of 2009. Now that I've seen that some people get responses after 7 years I won't lose hope until 2016. 
But the longest I've had to wait for a response was from Jennette McCurdy, she took 5 months. Which is nothing compared to what other people have waited.

It's interesting the previous poster mentioned Mary Kate and Ashley, they were part of who I'm naming.
In the 90s I sent a request for autographs from the cast of Full House. I got a reply about a year later. It was presigned.
