There has been a major hold for months now on any new additions to the Mod team (TMs or Mods). My biggest suggestion to you would be to do as you preach. {up} I often see you talk about the problems associated with members posting email addresses and how you oppose it (it's in your signature! :lol: ), but I have never seen you delete/edit topics containing email addresses, same applies to deleting spam. I would like to see you, I'm others would agree, participate in the TM/Mod forums and see your name appear in the Mod log, which logs everything you have done and any changes that you have made. Up to this point, I haven't seen your name once in these logs. Experience in these areas is essential. Along with Ursa, I will continue to work hard keeping everything in check.

What I said above isn't meant to offend you, you're one of the nicest members Fanmail.biz has! {up} Good luck with your request!

I'm glad that should you be promoted, you will be deleting email addresses in topics... considering you're supposed to do that now anyway! :)
Favourite: David Tennant IP, John Barrowman IP, Patrick Stewart IP, Catherine Tate VV.
Newest: John Simm IP, Suranne Jones IP, Jonathan Groff IP.

Wait, so we're promoting people who aren't doing what they're supposed to be doing already?

If anything, we should demoting all the moderators who aren't doing their job and/or are no longer active members here.

I agree with dfreely here, the first thing someone should do is go through all the moderators and remove that title from any account that has not been active for say 5 months. Then, although it wouldn't be very popular, demote those moderators who either don't provide help or don't know what they are talking about. This will make space for people like Ryan J, who has been a trainee-mod for ages, to become full moderators and really help out the forum.

I have been a proponent of this for a while now, but I haven't been able to convince Admin to do anything about it. I agree that the majority of TM’s/Mod's/even GM’s are no longer active and should be demoted. Surprisingly, we are doing just fine with the limited amount of help we have! For a site this size, we don't require very many Mod's. I am glad to see that Admin has become more selective in who he approves, that goes for the rest of the GM’s too!

Like I said before you will need to do as you preach, RYAN J.! ;-) Being nice and helpful is one part of being a Mod, but keeping everything else in check is the largest responsibility of a Mod. Most of my time here is spent dealing with little things that go unnoticed (moving, editing, deleting topics/posts etc. etc.). Like osiris said, you have had the ability to do this since becoming a TM! {up}

And I don't know why the admin doesn't.. it takes just a few minutes. Not to mention, a dead moderator account is a security hole.

This really needs to be reinforced, because the actual job of a moderator is to edit/delete/move posts, threads and accounts as necessary and keep everything under control. While it's nice that a moderator can also give good advice and be helpful, this alone doesn't qualify anyone as a moderator. It just seems so many people here think someone can be a moderator based on seniority or popularity alone.
