Re: Off Topic, my opinion!
Well being that I was around in 2008 when this forum was "nicer," the only thing that really changed is that more people are being honest about what people get....I mean people were always 'stingy' about private addresses and emails, so that hasn't changed too badly...But yeah are are right about it. But you can't expect things to always stay the same I guess..... ?
Britney Spears==>> 6 #1 albums. 2 diamond albums. 8 platinum albums. 400+ awards. 200M+ records sold. Britney has sold over 45 million records this decade despite only releasing three albums. Globally, Britney has more #1 singles than any other female artist except Madonna and Rihanna. "Oops!...I Did It Again" by Britney is the 5th best selling album of the 2000s decade worldwide. Britney is the only female artist to chart her first seven albums in the top two of the Billboard 200. Britney has achieved at least one #1 album in 3 different decades (90's, 00's, 10's). Britney is the first solo female artist from the 90's to reach 1 billion Spotify streams. Despite NOT even being a single, 'Tom's Diner', ft. Britney , has become Giorgio Moroders best-selling digital track. 2015 Billboard Awards ratings reached a 14-year high, with numbers peaking during Britney's performance. She IS the princess of Pop. Noticed this too and completely agree with your point. It is only a minority of people but it's not fair for them to spoil it for others. Everyone should be treated as equals and I think some need to consider if their comments are something they themselves would appreciate getting. Treat other people how you would like to be treated and all that. Still love the site and find it, and the vast majority of users, really fab and helpful thoughAutographDiva wrote:I really do not understand what has happened to this site and common decency. I get when someone asks for authentication, HOWEVER...I think it is SO rude to offer it for no reason. It is almost like an "i'm better than you" sort of behavior. The reason for this site has been lost in the befuddlement of these types of ideas. "Telling the truth" is one thing, WHEN ASKED for. Your random comments that are not requested are nothing but bullying by hateful and spiteful negative spirited people. I truly hope site owners and mods will consider these points. They are leading to the downfall of this site, causing negative feelings towards its users and hurting the spirit and love of collecting autographs. Just my opinion but it really bothers me.

Re: Off Topic, my opinion!
I can't help but think that you're looking at things through tinted glasses. There are morons out there, and all of us (myself included) are guilty of posting things in the wrong way. I first joined this forum in 2005, and I don't recall this "no authenticity" rule.. this has been discussed before and no one else could either. The bottom line is, this is the internet and people will be posted... those causing trouble will be called out on it, and the fakes will be noted.
Behind it all... I think the purpose of a forum like this is to share knowledge, but if you think that people will not comment on fakes you're wrong. If you think people shouldn't comment on fakes you're also wrong. Fakes being posted as real that are not identified lead to potential collectors, and especially newbies, sending and wasting time/money on getting fakes. If no one called the Benefaker on his David Jason "success" or some of the other spectacular fakes which have appeared on this forum then it would be an even bigger joke than it is now. The internet is for the public to use, and if you don't like what some people post, there's a lovely option to block them so you can't see their posts. Clarifying one thing... some of the posts people make on here are offensive and potentially bullying. Pointing out that an autograph is not real is not bullying, it's informing of the facts.
It has plus points, but the negatives outweigh it by a long way. This site grew out of control like all BIG forums do, where the Admin is only after advertising revenue... last time I checked this site was worth a fair amount of money, and that's why nothing happens, it's why Admin randomly deletes stuff, its why spam gets through so much because the Mods have little to no power, and why nothing is enforced. Most forums also enforce an age limit, while there can be some younger members who can post sensibly, the facts are that kids don't have the maturity to handle the internet and issues that come with it.
Above all though... you seem to be rather fixated on the rules, but you didn't think at any point that this is not feedback?

Re: Off Topic, my opinion!
This site is a great, free alternative to a majority of pay sites.
I wish there was more focus on authenticity though but I think there's a few experienced guys who know what's real and what isn't and it's good to tell the newer collectors. I wish a site like this was around when I was collecting. And a lot of stuff has changed with collecting. Years ago, even big time collectors or dealers didn't know about certain secretarials.
I consider this site to be like a yelp or google review. If it can save one person a bad meal at a reviewed restaurant, then the sites are worth it. If the site can save a person even just one wasted stamp it's worth it.
Just like in a job, where you learn from the more experienced workers, you must listen to the experienced collectors. We've learned from the good but we've also learned from the BAD. In my first two years of collecting I probably got 90% fake autographs because there were no message boards for autographs, that I could find.
I don't know about "unwritten rules" or what not but there shouldn't be anything rule regard authenticity matters. It should be allowed 100 % to comment when something is believed, or has been proven, to be fake.

Re: Off Topic, my opinion!
I agree wholeheartedly. I've just trained myself to ignore the negativity. I was a moderator on a gaming site and you always run into trolls who get enjoyment from causing controversy and upsetting people. It's sad, but true, that there are people who are like this.AutographDiva wrote:I really do not understand what has happened to this site and common decency. On a side note, when I first started here, I had a fantastic success from Ron Jeremy that either Admin or the mods kept deleting with no explanation. Any idea why Ron, a man who promotes love, is inappropriate, but serial killers are acceptable successes?
