The coming-of-age indie comedy "Duck Farm No. 13" is hatching in McGregor.
A production team with Iowa roots is joining a flock of Iowa actors and Hollywood stars -- including a cameo by Carson Kressley from "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" -- to tell the tale set in an Iowa ice cream stand.
Filming began Sunday in McGregor and will continue there through Nov. 2.
Production officials describe it as a Frank Capra-type comedy involving two teenage girls and the ice cream stand's female owner, whose lives are changed forever by a series of events on a Saturday in September.
Writer-director is Becky Smith of Los Angeles, who grew up at Lake Okoboji, where much of her family still lives. Executive producer is Terry Trimpe of Lisbon, who served as an associate producer on "The Final Season." Hollywood-based producer Joel Sadilek hails from Cedar Rapids and is a University of Iowa graduate.
In the lead role is Hallee Hirsh, 19, who played in "You've Got Mail" and has appeared on TV's "Grey's Anatomy," "JAG," "ER" and "Boston Legal", and also "Flight 29 Down".
Mandy Musgrave, 21, a series regular on cable's "South of Nowhere," plays her friend, and veteran actress Theresa Russell, who played the Sandman's wife in "Spider-Man III" and appeared in the HBO mini-series "Empire Falls" with Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, plays the ice cream shop owner.
Other Hollywood actors in the cast include Jaime Gomez, who played Evan Cortez in nearly 60 episodes of "Nash Bridges," and Will Rothaar, who has appeared in "CSI" and "Judging Amy."
Area residents who saw or worked on "The Final Season" will recognize at least one Iowa actor -- Michael Cornelison of West Des Moines, who played Father Schultz in "The Final Season" and is playing Reverend Kerr in "Duck Farm."
Other cast members with Eastern Iowa ties include Julie Mickelson, a junior at the University of Iowa; Gabrielle McNally, a student at Luther College in Decorah; and Clint Curtis of Des Moines, who grew up in Iowa City.
Ok, so I want to tell everyone that the people who posted 194 and 196 were fakes. I just got a message back from Mandy and she said that it was not her, but if I give her the link then she will gladly sign it. She has not signed it yet, because she has not read the message. I see Valery signed it I think. I am not sure if it is really her, I am going to message her though and then update you with the info.

Those names will be removed then correct?? So I know there are like 150 "Official Mandy Musgrave" profiles out there, I wonder if we have the same one added? I think I have the real Mandy added to my friends, maybe you could pm the URL link to the one you have added??
OK another update, the signature which says Valery M. Ortiz, IS really Valery. Valery just messaged me back saying that it was really her.
Also, I know for sure that I have the real Mandy. I will gladly send you the link. She has a myspace for her fans and then a myspace for her friends and family. I only have the myspace for her fans though.
Yeah i know! I bet most of it was from facebook, but I also posted it as a comment on the cast members myspaces, and people look at those alot. But the majority was probably facebook.
