I wrote to Nobel Prize winner Norman Borlaug about 2 weeks before he did, several months later I received an autographed buisness card with a note from him wife explaining that he had already signed my auto and was going to mail it out in the morning, he died in his sleep, and it took months before they got through all his stuff (obviously my request is not high on the to do list when her husband died). It was great to have that success, it's very possible it's my fav auto, but it was also very creepy to receive an auto from a dead guy

Magicdude that is crazy! Yeah Salinger was very private. I found his home address online and figured what the heck so sent him a letter about 1/8/2010 - hasnt come back return to sender so far but I knew going in there was a very small chance he would write back but since I like his stories why not. If I do happen to get a response it would be a very valuable historic success(well the best historical success I have seen on here was autograph received when Saddam was on death row).

But yeah i usually collect historical autographs over anything
