I went to London today and just wanted to let you guys know that Catherine Tate will not be signing for the forseeable future due to a sbadly sprained wrist. I went to the Stage door of the duke of yorks theatre and you could tell her wrist was limp and could not sign She was also on a crutch. She was happy to pose for photos. One person asked if she knew when she would be able to sign and said she had no idea.
I will try in a couple of weeks but I fear it will proberly be longer before she is ready - just hope she will before the show ends becasue it is so hard to get her TTM now.

I was going to write to her, but I guess she can't sign

I really want to know how she kept a straight face during that translator scene.

Oh dear I wrote to her last Monday, at the above theatre, hope she gets better soon. Please remember, her wrist is only sprained, and not broken, she should be ok in a week or two, as she will have to move the wrist, if someones sprained their spine, they would have to get some movement in it, and start to walk, to aid the healing.
So it should be no time at all, mine you it may give her an excuse for not signing, for the next couple of months.

Just checked on a website, about wrist sprains, and the healing time is as follows:
Mild. 48 hrs.
Moderate. 7-10 days
Badly sprained. 2-10 weeks (The longer time, if it's needs an op on it) the shorter time if not.
Hope this helps.

How did she hurt her self like this?
I expect it to last 2 weeks at most, Ive had about 8 sprains, 2 of which I was in hospital with and they didnt last longer then a few days before being able to have use again.

Thanks
She fell over during rehearsals apparently
Hopefully it will be only a couple of weeks - I dont think she will need an operation on it but im no expert.
But yes, she could use this as an ongoing excuse for not signing even when its healed.

The way I see it is that although I have no doubt she hurt herself if she can still perform and even come out after the show and happily pose or photos for at least 30 minutes and then walk off un -aided(I mean no one with her) I dont know how bad it really is.
Also the other problem is she is also on a crutch because she also hurt her ankle and she made it sound like even if her wrist heals she wont be able to sign properly with only one free hand

Yep my thoughts exactly....There have been loads of actors/actresses who have not been able to work on stage, due to illness/accidance On the other hand, poor old Catherine may be putting on a bit of a brave face.
I really hope, my letter, has made her a little happy, I try to tell her how great she was, in Dr Who, and how she should be very proud of her part in the series. Sadly she has had depression in the past, and still gets panic attacks sometimes, so it's nice to try to cheer people up a bit.
