IP addresses

Perhaps someone here can help me out. I have absolutely no idea what an IP address is I've been reading about them in another thread and was hoping someone could explain what they are!

I have nothing to hide on here. I'm just curious {thumb2}

Yikes, I wish I'd never asked

So basically, if I used a different computer to sign on here, my IP address would be different to the one I have now? If so, can I still use a different computer to sign in here or does it recognise my IP address from the one I'm on now? What I mean is, if I bought a new computer for any reason, would I still be able to sign in here as margotchanning?
Sorry to ask so many questions. I'm completely illiterate when it comes to computer jargon! {thumb2}

Yes, you can log in whatever computer you use

Would be terrible if your account were bound to one special computer {thumb2}.

It depends on your internet connection but usually your internet provider gives you a new ip address for every new login. So even if you always use the same computer your ip address would change! So no problem...
