Who is your top nominee for an Oscar or who would you like to see win? Personally, I'm rooting for Heath Ledger all the way, and I think Sean Penn for MILK. But I just want to hear Heath's name called out for the best supporting actor. Who do YOU wan to win though?

Not really sure of the nominees. Is there a list with categories and people? The only one I know is Kate Winslet and I want her to win

Here is a list of the main nominess. I'll put an asterix beside who I want to win and who I think will win.
BEST PICTURE:
Milk
The Reader
Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Slumdog Millionaire* *
Frost/Nixon
BEST ACTOR
Sean Penn - Milk
Mickey Rourke - The Wrestler* *
Frank Langella - Frost/Nixon
Brad Pitt - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Richard Jenkins - The Visitor
BEST ACTRESS
Meryl Streep - Doubt * (want to win)
Anne Hathaway - Rachel Getting Married
Melissa Leo - Frozen River
Kate Winslet - The Reader * (will win)
Angelina Jolie - Changeling
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR
Josh Brolin - Milk
Michael Shannon - Revolutionary Road
Heath Ledger - The Dark Knight* *
Robert Downey Jr. - Tropic Thunder
Phillip Seymour Hoffman - Doubt
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS
Marisa Tomei - The Wrestler
Amy Adams - Doubt * (want to win)
Viola Davis - Doubt
Penelope Cruz - Vicky Cristina Barcelona * (will win)
Taraji P. Henson - Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Frankly, the Oscars are a joke anyway this year. The exclusion of The Wrestler from best picture, writing, and directing categories is nothing short of a travesty. The inclusion of The Reader and Curious Case of Benjamin Button in Best Picture over Wall-E, Dark Knight or The Wrestler is ridiculous. The supporting categories are also weak, and the fact that Dev Patel didn't get nominated over Michael Shannon (who is good in Revolutionary Road, but not Oscar material) shows us how irrelevant the Oscars have become.
Also, I don't believe Kate Winslet deserves to win for The Reader or deserves to be included in Leading Actress category for that matter, but as it's looking, she'll likely walk away with the gold statue on Sunday.

I don't really follow the Oscars but I'd love to see Heath Ledger win one.

I saw Milk again last night, and I'm kind of rooting for Sean Penn to win. I'm shocked that James Franco or Emile Hirsch didn't get nominated over Josh Brolin for it though.

BEST ACTOR:
Robert Pattinson -
Twilight

I'm just joking (although that would have been refreshing!).

Honestly, this is not a very good year in my opinion, it's so predictable who will win, really...

I agree 100% with amyfairycakes's predictions - those are the winners (whether we like it or not). From the beginning of the award season we all knew "Slumdog Millionaire" is the best picture (I don't have a problem with it, I'd actually like to see it) and Rourke will be best actor. I
don't want Kate Winslet to win (but she will) best actress, but rather Streep.

I was shocked that The Dark Knight, which was easily the biggest movie last year in terms of box office success and general praise, didnt get nominated for best picture.. I havent seen Slumdog yet so i cant comment on it, but i really think that Dark Knight should've been up there fighting for the best picture award aswell..

Other then that the ceremony was brilliant, the best in years imo. And Hugh Jackman was perfect as a host! Id love to see him up there again in the future.
Oh, and Rourke should've won for best actor..
