"Sleep paralysis occurs when the brain awakes from a REM state, but the body paralysis persists. This leaves the person fully conscious, but unable to move."
Has anyone else experienced this? It has happened to me once or twice, but only for a matter of seconds. Apparently about half of all people are believed to experience sleep paralysis sometime during their life..
Frightening but interesting!
It gives you the worst feeling in the world. It happened to me a few days ago. I woke up bleeding from my nose and just lay still for 5 minutes trying to move or yell, but couldn't. I think I went back to sleep because a few hours later I woke up again, all covered in blood.
It's happened to me. I woke up and moved, but not under my control, it was weird. My leg was moving up and down but I wasn't doing it, so then about 5 minutes later I could finally move, and under my control.
I've also had it happen where I'm about to fall asleep, and I get this shutter, jump up, and then I can't move for about 5 minutes, too. It's kind of weird.
Oh my gosh yes this sounds like something that happened to me quite recently. I think I must have had a bad dream and then I became conscious but couldn't open my eyes or move. Then suddenly my eyes finally opened and I just let out the most piercing scream. It was the strangest thing.
It's happened to me. Sometimes when I wake up in the morning I'm totally awake, but no matter what I do I can't even open my eyes. It's pretty crazy how that happens. And what some of you are saying...so odd...

I've heard that if you sleep on your back in a straight position, It's more likely to occur than if you lay on your side. So sleeping on your side or stomach should prevent it from happening most of the time!
Oh my gosh, there was a link on one of those links that said some people even die from it somehow, and then Filipino women think that wiggling your big toe is how to snap out of sleep paralysis, or prevent dieing from it. I'm so glad, because that's what I did when I couldn't move, I attemped to wiggle my toes, haha. I can't imagine people dieing from that though! It's ridiculous!

Hmm, that's so weird! I never sleep on my back, I always sleep on my side or stomach.
Glad I'm not the only one. I get this quite a bit and it's the weirdest feeling in the world. It makes my ears go funny too, like when you're under water. Does anyone else feel like that?
