We love our pets.

Unread post by Star9685 »

Hey everyone. I for one am an animal lover, and I'm sure most of you are too.
This may be a silly thread..but I'm curious to know what kind of pets everyone has.
So, if you have any, I'd love to hear a little bit about them.

I have 5 pets.
At my mothers house, I have a dog and a turtle.

Carson is a west highland white terrier. Here is a link to what he basically looks like: http://www.flickr.com/photos/davidhawtin/1780169702/
I love Carson to death, but he defiantly has a mind of his own. He can be terribly stubborn. He knows a few tricks, he can sit up on his back legs, shake paw, and roll over. It's hilarious to watch him play with plastic bottles. We always give him them when we're done drinking them, he can play with them for hours. He's defiantly a watch dog, we put carpet up in a front window so he always jumps up there when he hears something out side. During the day he also goes up there to lay in the sun. He's defiantly not a social dog, he just has his few people he takes to. But, he's a great dog.

My turtles name is Tori. There's not much to really say about him. But, sometimes he can be really funny. I love watching him eat. He usually won't eat in front of us..but when we feed him worms (I know..it's kinda gross..but it's hailarious) he can be really funny. He lives in a tank in our dining room. He looks pretty much just like this: http://www.wildlife-artworks.com/drawin ... turtle.jpg

Then at my Father's house, I have 2 cats, and a black lab.

My first cat is named Purle. She was the kitten of one of my Aunt's cats, I got her probably 6 or 7 years ago. She's long haired, with mostly black and brown fur. She's a beautiful cat. When she was young she was very sweet..but as she's gotten older she's a little more grouchy. You defiantly don't want to put her past her limit. She loves to play though and can can sometimes be vary fun. She prefers to only be around people she knows though. She's an indoor cat, but she likes to run around the yard when it's warm outside. A couple years back she had 5 kittens; Bitzy, Button, Jet, Bear, and Lucky. We ended up keeping Lucky, and giving the other four to friends.

Lucky is an all orange cat aside from a little whit on his face. He's defiantly a people cat, and loves to play. He could get along with just about anyone. Like Purle, he enjoys being outside, but always wants to be wherever the people are. He's the perfect cat.

My black labs name is Dottie or Dot. She's a very active and playful dog. She loves to be with people, and would probably never hurt you, but loves to play rough for fun. She's usually outside, aside from when it's really cold or stormy, but that doesn't bother her much. She's played with a lot and loves to go on walks.

So, anyway..I did some sorta long descriptions..but I'd love to hear about you animals. :D

Hiya,

I have one guniea pig. She is called 'Chocolate'-she is about 3 or 4 years old, but very cute! As you probably have guessed(hence the name!), she is a brown guniea pig and very cute! :) She lives indoors but goes outside sometimes too in her run.

I used to have another guniea pig named after 'Ginny' from 'Harry Potter' but she died just after Christmas 2008(I was in London at the time) of old age, sadly. She was about 5 or 6 when she died. She was a lovely guniea pig.

At my grandparents house, I have about 4 or 5 fish. They're quite funny(but nice) to watch-the way they open their mouths! hehe! I haven't got names for them yet, becasue I cannot tell if they are male or female. They are goldfish(you all know what goldfish look like!) and a comet(looks just like this but slighty bigger: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Comet-pond.jpg).

Aw, so sorry about your guenie pig. My sister had one that lived probably 7 years or so, and I remember that was quite a long time. So, it sounds like yours had a good life. I know what it's like to loose a pet though. :(

Haha, that's why I went with the name Tori for my turtle. I suppose I haven't met a boy names Tori...but for a turtle I think it's okay for either gender. I'm still not sure if he's male or female..but I've sorta started to think of him as a boy (notice I always refer to him as him or he. haha)

This thread is such a great idea. I love animals too.

Anyway, I have one cat. Her name is Bella (no she wasn't named after Twilight, okay maybe she could have been). It's the name she had at the shelter and I just loved the name so much I kept it. She's an indoor only cat, although she does go out in a harness and a leash and I supervise her, but only in the backyard. Anyway, she was 5 when I got her and the shelter was so happy because it was kitten season and everyone wanted kittens and not the adult cats. I liked her because even though she was an adult cat, she was still very kitten like. She's 7 now, she loves to play and sleep. She always sleeps on my bed, oh she adores treats. And her favorite toys are a feather wand and laser toy. And she adores hair ties, I don't know why but it's so funny when she plays with my hair ties.

Bella is a social cat, although she does run and hide when people come over, but after a few seconds, she'll peek her head out and come great everyone.

Image- this is her picture

And I am thinking of getting a dog or a puppy, but for now it's just Bella.

We've got a rather hairy/slightly podge dog called Libby, which isn't a great name for her, but between the five of us we couldn't think of a better one so the random name the rescue place gave her has stuck. (She doesn't answer to it or anything so its kinda just a formality  )

Image

Quite possibly the soppiest animal you will ever meet. Doesn't care about other dogs, but loves people. She'll be off after any random stranger for a cuddle/food. No idea what other kind of dog is in her apart from border collie, but whatever it is definitely is not the smartest of animals :P Favourite toy would be her frisbee (wherever it is). Shes having to make do with cheap ones now that shes put holes in...also a fan of a good basketball both before and after she bursts it, which is an achievement seeing as she has hardly any teeth.

Newest members of the clan are the two chickens Martin Luther King and James Joyce (named by my sister who doesn't seem to care that they are girls...). They are mental. Martin Luther King in particular is a right headcase, not happy unless its trying to peck some part of you. Oh how they changed since I've been back at uni

Image

My sisters got two fish...think they're called Dave and Mavis. Don't think they've died yet :P Been a while since I've been home though.

We have got a Rottie X called Syd.

He is a rescue dog from Babworth Animal Rescue Kennels where we are now volunteers and fundraisers.

His story is quite sad he was picked up from the street by the dog warden and taken to the pound where he only had the statutory 5 days on death row to be claimed, he was lucky enough to be rescued by B.A.R.K before the last day but unfortunately he was very ill with Pneumonia , punctured lung , broken teeth & very underweight.

The wonderful staff there nursed him back to health and we then
adopted him in april 2007 and he is the most softest and affectionate dog you could want to meet , we are so lucky to have him , the only thing is he won't get in a car which we think isthat he may have been thrown out of a car when he was dumped.

He is a loyal companion and loves my daughter to bits and follows her everywhere , he likes nothing more than sitting on the floor with her sharing a bag of sweets.

Image
this is syd just after he had his lifesaving op

this is my handsome boy all well and in a loving family home.

the rescue kennels is at http://www.barkonline.co.uk
we are having an autograph sale at the moment to raise funds
and we can list them on here when we have reached the end of june.

I have another rabbit called Chocolate. He is black with a light brown stripe down his back. H was given to meby my friend Jodie because she didnt want to look after him anymore and wanted him to come to a person that would love him {love} (everyone knows me as an 'animal lover')

I have 2 orange goldfish called Ferb (from Phineas & Ferb) and Noddy (meaning Noddy the cartoon)

Through out my life I have had 5 fish, 2 rabbits and 2 hamsters.

I am trying to persuade my mum to let me have an Alsation (German Shepard) dog but so far its a big NO {down}
My mum doesnt want a dog but I do so I am saying things like 'I will look after it, walk it, pay for everything it needs, get up in the night with it, tidy up after it' but so far nothings working :(
Hopefully some time soon I will have a dog..... ;-)

That's so cool you have two rabbits. I've always wanted one. My aunt had one when I was little that I absolutely loved.
