SEQUELS!!! - Which film do you want made?

Well this post derives from my ANGER at the makers on S.Darko (Donnie Darko TWO) - I liked Donnie Darko and I am probably one of the few people that got it first time... but now they've made S. Darko about Donnie's youngest Sister Samantha and although I haven't seen it I am annoyed everything these days is a SEQUEL and well some are good like Terminators', Transformers', Pirates' and Harry Potters' but I think they shouldn't make some SEQUELS should never see the light of DAY!!! For Example - Legally Blondes - this is about ELLE WOODS young cousins (I Don't Get It Either!!!) and Rambo 700

But I am trying to be serious so Which films (or books that you would like made into films) would you choose and Which SEQUELS should be sent back to the firey pits of Mount Doom... there's another good trilogy!!!

Your thoughts would be appeciated!!!

I want there to be a sequel to Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging as they were based on the series of books! {thumb2} :razz: I don't think they are making one...

I also want there to be The Clique 2 aswell!

See there's a difference between movies which were designed as a series (HP, LOTR, POTC, Underworld etc) and ones which they try and milk by making an unneeded sequel. Then of course there are those in the minority which they go "oh lets make a sequel" and it's a genius decision. Sequels with the original cast can work. Sequels which dont are just odd usually(American Pie first 3 are brilliant, the next one...) Sequels like that shouldnt play too much on the originals. Many people dont like Dirty Dancing 2 but I do, as it's not really a sequel (in fact, it takes place earlier than Dirty Dancing) and has none of the original characters (it does have Patrick Swayze in a minor dance teacher role, but it's not supposed to be Johnny Castle). It's just a similar type of story, a young girl growing up through music & dance she's unfamiliar with.

In a similar way, "remakes" should offer something new. The new Italian Job worked because it was just a story about theives. Oh and they drove minis. That's it lol. They're set to "remake" The Bodyguard soon. But again, it's not the same story, just the idea of a famous person & their bodyguard. They look at the story and go "well, that was interesting, now let's see what happens when we do this"

I think Serenity deserves a sequel (or perhaps a new series of Firefly, I'm not fussed). Hmm will need to think about others...

i always thought thay should do a sequel to clive barkers Nightbreed , there were so many bizarre characters that they could have taken further but they only had short screen time or just a passing shot of them.

You do make an excellent arguement though some sequels are amazing and prequels are also very good like you said in dirty dancing 2 and the startrek movie that was just released these films worked because it was before many of the main characters in the new old film will not have been born yet!!! Like Spocks (Leonard Nimoy) role in the New Star Trek Movie!!!

I agree with the Donnie Darko statement. You are very lucky you got it the first time, because I still don't get it. Cruel Intentions, my favorite movie, has a second and third sequel and I refuse to see it as I think it would ruin the first movie. I really feel HSM 3 was awful and I can't even watch it. :neutral: I love Scary Movie sequels though!
