I just read that Ms. McClanahan underwent bypass surgery yesterday for having trouble breathing. She is in recovery, but will not be released for a couple of weeks.

She is on my thoughts, and I hope she makes a full recovery.

An update... according to sources, she recently suffered a stroke and her speech and movement on the right side of her body were affected. Hopefully she will be making a strong recovery soon in physical therapy. GET BETTER RUE!!!!

That is really unfortunate news. I hope she makes a full recovery, she's such a talented actress. I have always thought that her and Estelle Getty always put in a lot of effort into their performances. Not that Bea and Betty weren`t great, but with Estelle and Rue`s characters they had to change their complete personalities, their voices, and the way they walked and carried themselves, and they always did that and just so well.

Hopefully she gets better soon. She's been one of my favorite actresses for ages.
