We will remember them . . . . .

Unread post by TheCollector »

Dear all {up}

I just thought I would leave a quick post to mark today, 11/11/05 which as usual is Armistice Day - to commemorate the end of World War I on November 11, 1918.

This year however is particularly special as it marks 60 years from the end of the Second World War.

So if you feel so inclined, please take a minute to remember all our war dead whereever we are, and contemplate their message:

"When you go home, tell them of us and say: 'For your tomorrow we gave our today'"

Thanks guys {up}

I personally believe it is so important to remember those who gave their lives so bravely so we might live our own.

The sad thing is that in only a few years time we will have no living reminders of the 1st and 2nd World Wars.

Unfortunately though we will have the victims of subsequent confilcts to remember, and so it goes on . . . . .

Whether we agree with the principles of war or not, I still believe we need to acknowledge those who gave their lives all those years ago. Many people nowadays do not realise the average age of soldiers in the two world wars was only 16 or 17. They were barely teenagers, let alone men and women.
