How To Display A Poster?

Unread post by ricin »

I have several posters of my favourite bands and I hang them on my wall using a tape. :D
Is it safe to do this? Do you now any tips on how to preserve my signed posters? :D

First I would say that hanging them with tape is among the worst things that you could do. Also, be sure not put them in sunlight. There are several options about where and how to display them. Secondly, I don't do it, but I have heard of some collectors actually making a good quality copy of the original and displaying that. The belief is that most people will not know the difference and that you are then able to safeguard your original. These are just a couple thoughts that occured to me. Others probably have more ideas that they can share.
I have been asked many times about trading / selling some of my autographs. I am sorry but my collection is not and will not be for sale.

I have about 18 posters in my room. The best way of displaying and preserving is putting them in a nice high quality frame. Poster frames are hard to come by, but if you {up} search your local hobby shop you should be able to find something..

My posters aren't autograph, but I use fairly cheap poster frames. I'm not sure where I got them, but I know you can get them at Target or Walmart.

I wouldn't put them in direct sunlight or even heavy sun, especially if they are autographed, as they will start to fade over time even faster.

I normally use blu-tac, which is bad cos after a few years it messes up the poster and my wall :P now i try and use these things:

a lot cheaper than framing and they also don't damage your poster/paintwork...as long as you can stick a pin in the wall thats all you need

I use cheap frames as well, usually from warehouse/liquidator stores. I used to use poster hangers so that they would displayed wallscroll-style (the same thing Mighty_Modders linked to I think), but didn't like it much because it collected dust.
