Prostitution legalized in Canada

So as some of you may have heard, the prostitution laws here in Canada were struck down today. I am sure this will lead to a good debate and I'm interested in hearing the views of some of the people on this forum. What is your take or opinion on this? Is it good or bad? I am not going to give my opinion quite yet, I'd like to see what others have to say first.
As always please be respectful and appropriate.

Is there some reason you care ? Why would you bring up prostitution on a autograph collecting site where alot of collecters are under 18 years old ? This isn't the place to discuss this topic...

Yes there is a reason I care, this has the potential to be one of the most groundbreaking and certainly most controversial judgements handed down in decades. I brought this up in the Non-Autograph related section of the forum which is for "Discussion of current events and participation in intelligent conversation with other Fanmail.biz users." I understand many of the members of this forum are under 18 (I was one of them up until a few months ago), but minors still have views on this sort of thing, in fact this exact topic was one we debated in my Grade 10 social studies class. I'm sorry if I have morally offended you, but I feel this is a topic that will be discussed a lot in the coming weeks, months, and years and why not start with our friends on the forum.

Haha, well my mates who are going to Canada in a couple of months time will be very happy!
On a serious note, they say it is the world's oldest profession, and I actually cannot think of a good reason for it to be banned. In fact, if legalised, it will hopefully mean it can be more "regulated", and some of the women get treated better, because now they can report abuse to the police without fear of being prosecuted themselves. In turn, valuable police time will now longer be wasted on trying to find prostitutes. And if you don't like the idea of prostitution? Simply do not hire one

Well this is still a site based on autograph collectiong and celebrity related topics, general discussion is still basically meant for those topics thats why the site is "fanmail.biz" This isnt intelligent conversation because nobody in canada ever enforced any laws against prostitution anyways so its a non issue, you can never stop it because its up to the morally corrupt who use them to stop spreading disease and use common sence!!! I suggest you take this topic to aforum where people want to hear it because this site isnt it !!! I am finished commenting on this now because it is only giving you the debate and talk you wanted in the first place on this pointless topic.

This pretty much. I'm for the legalization of prostitution as well as laws to protect those who choose that route.

Whatever forum you go to, the "general discussion" forums is basically a free-for-all for off-topic discussion. You may not like it, but it doesn't make this an invalid thread.

Wasn't an opinion, I was just explaining how internet forums work.

General discussion is the place for general discussion. On anything. As long as it is not illegal or offensive (i.e. we wouldn't allow discussions on the best place to find drugs or a hateful rant on a specific group of people, for instance). As long as the topic follows this, they can stay.

I think they should keep this law in place and Tax it and regulate it. Can you imagine the amount of Money Canada's Government could make off of creepy old men!
