Just a quick question: When you send an envelope which is stamped and addressed to yourself so they can send it back, is this called an SASE in America? We called them SAE in UK (stamped addressed envelope)

That is correct. Self addressed stamped envelope. I prefer the term, because sae is more often used as '' self addressed envelope''.

no. SAE is stamped addressed envelope. We don't use SASE generally in Britain, but I think British people on this site have started using it as most people on this site are from America and Australia , so that we all understand each other.

It is a different thing from a sase, as it means that return postage was not provided/paid for.it can be crucial in saving people money/foreighn stamps. Although, I guess if you wanted sae to mean a stamped envelope,the term ''ae'' (addressed envelope) could substitute what we all know ''sae' as.

Jaffer love, with respect, you're not paying attention

In the UK "SAE" means stamped addressed envelope. It means the same as "SASE". Since everywhere else "SAE" means as you say, self addressed envelope, generally us UKers have gotten used to using "SASE" here to imply when stamps are used.

NO everyone calls SAE a stamped addressed envelope. in Britain. I know well-educated people who know that it is a stamped addressed envelope. If you look in British magazines, it says sometimes 'stamped addressed envelope' if it is letting you send off for something through the post.
