Might work, just be sure and enclose a good amount though, like $20.00. who were you thinking of getting a signed poster from?? Just know, not all celebs or bands have large items to send out, but will subsitute their own items like a 8x10 photo.

He doesn't sign TTM, he sells autograph pictures on his offical site http://www.jamesmarsterslive.com/?page_id=37 an 8x10 is $45 but right now they are out of stock.

I almost hate to say this, but if they are out of stock on 8x10 photos it might be a good opportunity to try sending an item to him. I would state in my letter that I went to buy a photo from the website but they were out of stock. I would also include a fee, but wouldn't say anything in my letter about including the money. I never do anyway; when I include a fee/donation I just write a letter like I would for anyone else and place the cash or check in the letter or behind it. But if you do feel you need to state something, then be polite about it. In the paragraph where I'd request an autograph, I would just say something along the lines that I'm including a fee/donation to respect your wishes.
