I realize this isn't the proper forum for this, but I don't see anywhere else I can post it, I've had this problem for a couple of days, and my attempt to contact "Admin" has gone unanswered, so I'm hoping someone here can please point me in the right direction on this. I'm attempting to reply to some PM's that I've been exchanging with other members, but after typing them up and then clicking "submit", they've been going into the outbox and staying there, and aren't actually being sent. Once in the outbox, I can't seem to do anything to urge them to send themselves to the intended recipient. Has anyone else had this problem? Am I doing something wrong here? Can anyone please help me?

In the Private Message menu, they are in the Outbox and not the Sent Messages.

The outbox means it's sent..that's why it's called OUTbox.

No, the outbox is a temporary holding area for messages as the system processes them. Once they are sent, they appear in Sent Messages.

Mine always stay in the outbox for a little while before going to send...
I think it goes to send when the message is actually opened by the recipient?
(my opinion, don't know for sure! )

the (1) next to it goes away when the person reads it.

Are you sure about that? If so, thanks! I've never seen a message/e-mail system that works like that before.

What you're experiencing is normal.

When it's in the "Outbox", it means it has been sent, but the other person hasn't checked their messages yet.
When it's in "Sent messages", it means the other person checked their messages. It doesn't necessarily mean they read your PM though, just that they've checked their inbox (if I'm not mistaken).

It is unusual and non-standard, but a lot of aspects of phpBB are.

Glad you've cleared this up - I've been staring at mine going 'what the...?' for half the day too. LOL
