So the London Olympics have now officially opened and I am so excited for the next two weeks! I thought we could maybe have a thread to discuss the games!

I loved the opening ceremony! Highlights for me were Rowan Atkinson, Daniel Craig and JK Rowling! I also thought Arctic Monkeys were great and the music in general was fantastic! I loved the big cauldron of fire at the end too. I thought McCartney at the end was really bad though and I felt sorry for him. It was very cringey and uncomfortable!

What did you think of the opening ceremony?

I'm mostly looking forward to the cycling but also the swimming and tennis too! What games are you looking forward to?

Do you have any Olympic autographs?

I was quite surprised when I thought about who I had..

My London2012 autographs are:
Ben Ainslie - the first person to carry the torch in the UK,
Sir Steve Redgrave - the last person to carry the torch,
Chris Hoy - flag bearer for team GB,
Danny Boyle - artistic director of the games,
Kenneth Brannagh - actor in the ceremony,
JK Rowling - reader in the ceremony,
Dizzee Rascal - performer in ceremony.

My other Olympic autographs are:

Tom Daley,
Pete Reed,
Andy Murray,
Roger Federer,
Zac Purchase,
Rebecca Adlington,
Kelly Holmes,
Mark Cavendish,
Usain Bolt.

I loved seeing the nightmare bit with JK Rowling. It was nice to see villains especially Lord Voldemort (oops... I said his name). I also liked the music Danny Boyle picked. I believe it heightened the opening ceremony).

I am looking forward to seeing swimming and gymnastics

Personally I loved the first bit of the ceremony, where the acted out the British history up until the industrial revolution.

The events I'm looking forward too the most are the track and field ones, especially the 100m, 200m, and 400m dashes (those are the events I run lol). As much as I want to cheer for the US, I'm hoping to see Usain Bolt re break his own world records in the 100m and 200m. Oh and I'm also hoping to see Michael Phelps bring home a few golds in swimming too!

A few surprises today..

Really disappointed at the road race for the cycling. Was really hoping for Mark Cavendish to win it but Team GB didn't stand a chance. It wasn't their fault, it was mainly down to the negative and disgraceful tactics of the surrounding cyclists who did not want to help Team GB out in anyway and just left them to do all the work themselves. Really gutted for Mark!

Was also really surprised that Phelps came 8th on the qualifying stages then 4th in his actual race.. Really, really shocked! 8)

I'm getting rather pissed off... Here in the States, they wait until prime time to show the main events of the day. They are just showing the swimming and volleyball right now. It's stupid because I see results of the events online but I don't get to see the event on TV until a few hours after its over.

However I was really disappointed with Phelps. People have been saying he was lazy at practices and sometimes skipped practice all together... And its starting to show {down}

They do it for the ratings. Blame Nielsen, blame the advertisers, blame NBC.. in that order probably. But gosh, NBC's coverage of that opening ceremony was horrible. An entire segment was cut out, and the commentators were just horrendous.

Not surprising really.

Haha yeah its definitely for the ratings. I'm going to start watching the events all online so I can see it live, rather then having to watch it after I.already know the results
