Pre-prints and buying autographs

Unread post by evenstar5 »

I wanted to just get everyone's opinion on a few things.

#1 - Pre-Prints. Why are people excited to get pre-prints? Just because someting is better than nothing? I do agree with that I suppose, but I just wouldn't want to add a pre-print to my autograph collection. I have just noticed that some people put a pre-print as a success on here and in my mind, it's not really. Thought?

#2 - On the subject of buying autographs what do you guys thing? For instance, I am a huge fan of Star Trek so I wanted to send to Nichelle Nichols. Well, she doesn't sign TTM but you can order a photo from her website and she'll sign it and mail it to you for like $30. My significant other told me "that's cheating! You can't buy autographs, it defeats the purpose!". LOL. I understand where he's coming from, but at the same time if that's the only way to obtain a signature that you really want....well.....I wouldn't have a problem paying for one!

My opinions...

1. I'm not fond of pre-prints. I really don't care for them, unless I like the actual picture. I don't consider them an actual success...

2. I don't see a problem with buying an autograph... It's autograph collecting, which can be anything from IP to TTM or just buying it off a site. :)

My thoughts:

1. Pre-prints can be useful if you want to compare a questionable signature to an authentic one.

2. I have no problem with buying autographs. An autograph is an autograph regardless of how it was obtained (TTM, IP, or bought).
