Hi

I live in the UK and am finding it very difficult to send SAE abroad as I can no longer get hold of IRC.
The Post Office have said that they no longer sell them but cannot say what they have in its place.

Can anyone help please?

You can't really do anything other then either buy some US stamps many people on hear are selling them the other option is to send some money for the postage.
