How Many Stamps?

Hey!
Does anyone know how many 1st Class UK stamps I need to put on a 220x150mm (more or less 6x9") less-than-30-grams envelope to have it sent from the UK to the US?
I tried using the royalmail.com website to calculate it but there's no straight-forward answer. One part says such airmail letters cost £1.60 to mail, but their postage calculator says it's £1.88, and the stamp value seems to be £0.60 each. If it's the former, 3 stamps would do it but if it's the later I need to use 4. I'd rather hear from someone who's done this and knows for sure, please!
