Today, Robin Williams is in rehab. Here is the story from CNN:


The 55-year-old comedian had been sober for 20 years, Buxbaum said.

Williams "found himself drinking again and has decided to take proactive measures to deal with this for his own well-being and the well-being of his family," she said in a statement. "He looks forward to returning to work this fall to support his upcoming film releases."

Buxbaum declined to elaborate beyond the statement.

Williams stars in "Man of the Year," due in October, and voices an animated penguin in "Happy Feet," slated for release in November.

He won an Oscar for his supporting role in 1997's "Good Will Hunting."

I have seen evidence and thoughts both ways on the forum, so I wouldn't totally agree with you unless of course you can provide some evidence

I had a couple of successes from Mr Williams for my charity collection last year, and they totally match the other successes posted on the forum, so I am not sure.

Anyway, as one of my all time favourite actors, I for one would like to wish him a speedy recovery

He is one of my favourite actors too! But when I look at sent and recieve dates and he has a very heavy schedule it seems to be to good to be true. Just because you collect for charity, a secretery will not make an acception, I don't think. I really want them to be authentic but alot of people seem to agree that they are indeed secreterial

I totally know where you are coming from, I am just offering an alternative view, but I sincerely respect what you are saying. You may well be right about his autographs - I guess we will never know unless we actually see him (or his secretary) signing them

Generally though, when you collect for a registered charity, most celebs also send you a note or other letter to confirm authenticity - as they know the ultimate use of the autograph is to sell to raise funds, and with the number of fakes out there it is important to prove they are real

This is what I was trying (probably badly!) to explain to you yesterday. Often as charity collectors, we will get autographs from people who usually either don't sign at all, or are pretty erratic! In fact most agents do handle genuine charity requests differently from other requests.

Often they will make a point of passing some of the few charity requests they receive onto their clients, when perhaps they would usually just send out a preprint Other collectors sometimes find this hard to accept as they might have tried to get an authentic autograph from the same celeb for years.

I have now collected autographs and autographed memoribilia from nearing 850 celebrities - many from celebrities who are reputed not to sign. I have been lucky enough to get quite a few in-person autographs through my work, but like all the other collectors on here - the vast majority have been through the mail.

If there is one thing I know all about it is Charity Collecting! Trust me
