Chicago-Area Residents
Are there any Chicagoans out there that watch ABC 7 Chicago Weekend News at 5 and/or 10 with Karen Jordan and Ravi Baichwall?
If so, I ask that you join me in my boycott of these ABC 7 Chicago News Programs.
You see, a few months ago, I called Mr. Baichwall via the ABC 7 Chicago Main Number, and asked him for his autograph. He so kindly took my address and agreed to send me one. He was really nice and we talked for about 2-3 minutes. I called a few other ABC 7 newscasters and they all agreed to send me one. I got several of them in the months that passed, just not Ravi's. I figured that it must have gotten lost in the mail or something, so last night I called to see if he forgot to send it, or if he could send another one. He answered and the conversation was
"Hello"
"Mr. Baichwall?"
"Yes"
"I don't know if you remember me but my name is and I called you a few months ago about an autographed picture"

He hung up on me!
So, I'm trying to get everyone to boycott this news edition. Please join me.
Thank you.

I don't live in Chicago, but that was very rude of him.

Edit: I agree with Dgangel, it was rude what he did, but really is no reason to boycott them.

Re: Chicago-Area Residents
I'm surprised he didn't hang up on you the first time. It's one thing to send a letter or email but to call someone either at home or at their place of employment and ask for an autograph in my opinion is very intrusive. He has a job to do. Just imagine every autograph collector in Chicago calling him and asking for an autograph. The poor guy would need his own answering service, Also, many companies discourage incoming/outgoing personal phone calls and have policies in place to curtail the problem.
Re: Chicago-Area Residents
That's no reason to boycott a television program.
Re: Chicago-Area Residents
Phoning someone while he was at work and asking for an autograph? If that was me, I'd of hung up first time round. It was incredibly rude of you to phone and ask, and even ruder to phone him back. But regardless of that fact, how is this a reason to boycott them?
Just my opinion.
Just my opinion.

Re: Chicago-Area Residents
It's fine to write, or to e-mail someone, but to phone them at work is a big NO NO.
Also, you must remember, you could stop him signing in the future. {nonono}

Dear Mike,
Thank you for sharing your concerns with us.
We pride ourselves on our performance and on our relationship with our viewers, so this type of behavior is not acceptable to me. Rest assured I will address your complaint with our anchor Ravi Baichwal.
Again, I thank you for taking the time to contact us and I do
sincerely hope you will give ABC 7 News another chance.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Graves

Re: Chicago-Area Residents
No I didn't. Actually my complaint was forwarded to the VP from the General Manager.
Re: Chicago-Area Residents
Apparently we got disconnected somehow. Today I received this email:
.... Hey Mike I thought it was you who hung up on me. And I certainly
did send you a picture and was happy to do so. Please send me your
address again so I can pop something in the mail to you.
Ravi
