Not so much favorite books as favorite authors.
John Grisham
Clive Cussler
Cecelia Ahern
And as a kid Thea Beckman was my favorite author. Still enjoy re-reading some of her books.

Gertrude Bell: Queen of the Desert, Shaper of Nations by Georgina Howell. I am a huge history fan and Gertrude's story rocks! I have it on good authority that a movie will be made of it soon...wonder who is going to play the lead?
It is a must read book if you are a fan of History...As the saying goes: "Those who do not learn history are doom to reapeat it!"

1. Narnia series grew up on it, and still love it, (but only the original order)
2. anything by Tolkien yeah LOTR is great, but it's much better when you read all the history parts.
3. Hawker Harber by S.E. Hinton, she for sure got the idea from the show Dark Shadows (but i love all her books.
4. Tales From The Saints Sidelines a book about the Saints funny and intersting stories about the players.
5. Pug Hill, if you are a person that like romance stories but want something that is more real life read this you'll love it.
Honorable mentions are Harry Potter, anything by Homer Hickam, anything by Mary Kay Andrews, and Black Hawk Down (read it before i watched the movie very good)

1. Richard Dawkins - The God Delusion : a witty and fiercely intelligent affirmation of my beliefs as an Atheist
2. Tony Parsons - Man and Boy : brilliant, realistic account of a British man going through a mid-life crisis - how he cheats on his wife, their divorce, etc
3. Charles Dickens - A Tale Of Two Cities : my favourite Dickens novel, it's really epic. Love the characters of Sydney Carton and the body-snatcher.
4. Samuel Beckett - Waiting For Godot : it's actually a play, but its just really abstract, funny and downright daft. Robin Williams acted in the stage version some time ago.
5. Roald Dahl - Boy : pretty much his autobiography, with some exaggerations to make it even more enjoyable. This one tops any of the others he ever wrote!

One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest - Ken Kesey
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams
1984 - George Orwell
Trainspotting - Irvine Welsh.
those are pretty much the only books ive ever liked since ive grown out of kids books. waiting for the book 'dexter' is based on to arrive cos that sounds pretty good and im also on the lookout for the talented mr ripley. (and just to improve my bookish credentials, the rest of em i read the book before i saw the tv show/film)
