I saw this on another forum and thought it might be an interesting idea.

If you are male, add one point to the total.
If you are female, subtract one point from the total.

The first gender to reach 100 or -100 wins!

Joel - Would it be ok if we moved the goal down to a number like 100 or 200 or so? I'm not sure we would get to 500 before the post was locked
