Different "Expert" Types

Hello to all!

I've thought about it and I think that if we could somehow divide the moderators/TMs/Experts up a little more, it'd be for the better.

I know I for myself only wanted to become a moderator so people wouldn't feel uncomfortable asking me questions about anything, and I'm sure there's a lot more people like me out there who do it to help people and not for the title.

I know there are certain people who have the label "Autograph Expert," which was offered to me, but I declined; but I was thinking more along the lines of

"Film Expert"
"Music Expert"
"Author Expert"
"Sports Expert"
"Celebrity Expert"
"International Expert"
and for me (hahah)
"Broadway Expert"

Among plenty of other types there could be! I'm not saying go crazy with them, but I have seen plenty of people with no experience in the "Broadway field" trying to give advice as if they'd be talking to the celebrity's PA or to a brick wall...which isn't usually the case. Also, if a person doesn't even know how big a playbill weighs/etc., then how exactly can they help the person who is requesting?

And I'm not trying to come off as a big shot, I'd be lost/am when I write to a sports star. I've come up empty with the international ones too, which I could probably use help with but usually hard to find someone! (I usually ask Ann- margotchanning with Britain/etc.!)

And lastly, I would hope we wouldn't go overboard with these titles and givve them out to 4875487 people. I think that we should somehow signify a leader in the field, such as I believe 1DirXtion to be a big person in the music section, among others, and there's plenty of easy ones to find.

I just think it would be a big help to see someone respond with

"Broadway Expert" under their name, as opposed to someone else. I'm not saying that they couldn't help, but it'd be great to find an "expert" in a given area rather than a guess & check thing!

The person you are revering to 1DirXtion has been banned for scamming and posting fake successes.

As for the Expert types idea. I don't really think we need any more titles. We already have global moderators, moderators, trainee moderators and autograph experts. We even have some that are trusted autograph sellers, buyers and traders. I think adding more titles will just make things more confusing.

Agreed with guilder1st. A general label is just far more practical, and there is room within that for you to specify in which area(s) you would like to.

A fraud like 1DirXtion is the worst example of a potential autograph expert one could ever think of

Oops! Clearly not! I had no idea just how much fraud is on this website, ...I mean I've only known about that one user. We need to have like an information outing thing ;), because I had no idea....I was just looking at his/her feedback and making a general judgement.

Talk about making a bad case!

As a newly added "Expert" I thought that I would add my two cents. No one of us can be an expert on everything. I can pick out most fake vintage autographs like Babe Ruth and Humphrey Bogart, but couldn't pick out a secretarial Miley Cyrus without help. We need to help each other with what we do know.

BTW this topic wasn't about helping each other out, but giving out more titles, which would make things just more confusing. Of course nobody can be an expert in all fields. However if you have a trained eye and you have experience in authentication you should be able to spot a secretarial, pp, ap, stamped or forged signature, no matter what field it's in. I agree though, we need to spread the knowledge around and help each other.
