Andy316 - I'm glad we agree on something {thumb2}
Andy316 wrote: 1) Agreed

2) Fakes get deleted.

3) Secretarials are fake. Therefore they cant be advertised as authentic. How can you not see a point?

4) Agreed
My responses to 2 and 3:

2) But how will you know if they are fakes? True, there are some obvious fakes out there, but there are still threads that could get deleted that weren't scams. I just don't think putting Moderators there will change much. Currently, we just PM admin about fakes we see. Having Moderators do that won't solve anything.

3) Okay, point taken. However, who is to distinguish between secretarials and authentic autographs?
Andy316 wrote: 1) It IS ludicrous. You said there should be no rules. Thats ridiculous. I dont even need to debate the logic of it.

2) Like who? I havent been in the forum lately, but any obvious scams are deleted.

But yes, getting rid of that section is the best idea, but it'll never happen unfortunately.
My responses to 1 and 2:

1) I said there should be no rules because of all the reasons I have stated. There is no way we can put an end to the scams on this site. Why should we spend all this time on the subject if we can't ultimately do anything about it?

2) I really don't know who has been doing it. If there aren't any, why was this post even created?

There no good solutions to this. We can just delete the forum (but, as Andy316 said, that will never happen) or we can just keep it up with a warning: IF YOU ARE TRADING WITH PEOPLE HERE, BE WARNED THAT THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE YOU WILL GET SCAMMED. The latter idea, however, will not stop anything.

I agree with Andy and Jason on the matter that RULES HAVE TO BE PUT IN PLACE!!!!!!!
I can agree with DwightKSchrute on the matter that there will ALWAYS be that group of people who can be just good enough to pull off a scam to unknowledgable buyers. Thats just the way it is going to be until someone somewhere somehow comes up with a foolproof method.

Once I become a moderator {assuming I will at some point!} I would love to work in this forum- I have a very good eye and I can usually tell when something's up- It may help that my dad was a forensic analyst before he passed- one of those people you see on those crime shows ID'ing fingerprints...lol...which isn't TOTALLY true...sorry getting off the point here.

We DO need rules, and thanks to Jason and Andy for trying to make Fanmail a safer place.

peace

Sometimes its easy to tell, sometimes its harder.

We dont PM admin at all. We delete the threads and the members are given warnings/bans.

1) We may not be able to stop ALL scams, but we can severly lower the number of them.

2) This is an old thread you bumped, things have changed since it was created.

1) Okay.

2) Okay. Then why do we need Moderators for this?

1) Okay...I don't think doing any of this would severely lower the number of them.

2) I didn't bump this. The post right before my first one was from about a week ago. Still, this was at the top of the forum.

Like I have said, THERE ARE NO GOOD SOLUTIONS TO THIS. That's why I don't think we should spend time making rules. If you are stupid enough to trade online with people you don't know, it is your own fault that you get scammed.
