Hi all ,
The chat section has disappeared on this site for a while now; does anyone miss it? I sure do as I think it is a great place to talk and socialize with other collectors; as well as a place for newbie’s to ask questions. {thumb2}

Whilst I think we should bring the chat section back; I also believe we should create a system which prevent spammers from spamming the Chat. A way to do so is to only give members with over a certain amount of post or members that have been on this site for a certain amount of time access to the Chat section.

What are you thoughts; do you want the Chat section back? :razz:

Sorry Jason, but I would have to say 'no'. There are a lot of Tony's in the world, and they're just waiting to pounce on our site again.

I think communication is better limited to topics in the forums - much safer, and much easier to deal with the problem effectively and quickly.

I voted no too. Besides, having a rule where only people who are established on the site can post on the tagboard is just surely encouraging spamming of the site itself?

I say no too, its pretty much impossable to moderate

Oh gosh, please no. Notice the decline in the number of spammers recently? I firmly believe that the absence of the chat box is the cause.

I miss it.

I can't really comment on the spammers because I wasn't here long enough to see that. If a chat box isn't possible, how about some sort of IM?

We had a nasty old spammer called Tony, who registered under numerous obscene names and did nothing but spam up the chatbox. Apart from that, he also harassed female members of the site. Whenever the chat box comes back, he comes back, and vice versa.
