Hey,
I think that there should be one of them things, lol I dont know what theyre called. When people have to type in all them different numbers and letters when they are signing up to get an account, to prevents spambots.

Very good idea
But I'm not sure if phpBB (the forum type) has a function like that available

Hey
This function is already implemented in the forum. The spam bots have (somehow) found a way around it.
I have an idea for preventing spam, which I'll discuss with admin in a bit.

I thought of this too
Most registering forms for websites ask you to do these things, it's a shame they know how to get around it though

Some boards require that the administrators accept the users first, don't they? Or is that only Yahoo Groups and such?

hm, i think thats only on yahoo & msn groups and stuff. Thats a good idea

, but would it get a bit overwhelming? Or are there not that many people that register a day..
Do these accounts have to be activated, like do you have to go check your email and then paste the link into your browser and activate it?
