Spell check

Unread post by cuddlyewok »

Hi all,

This is something that I have seen on other forums.
When making a post, you have a spell check facility, which is really handy.

I do not know if anyone agrees with me. However, I do know that it is useful because even the best spellers make mistakes sometimes.

Best wishes

Stuart

As we know, there are known knowns. There are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns. That is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns, the ones we don't know we don't know. - US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld

Yes that would be pretty nice because some of us come from Foreign countries (like me) and it would be easier to understand proper english

I really like the idea, too. I'm a bad speller and feel really stupid when i type a word and think that its right. Its an excellent suggestion. :D

Hey Stuart :)

Thank you for your suggestion. :wink:

This forum and the forum you posted pictures of our running using different forum software. The forum you mentioned was running on SMF (I think) while this forum is phpBB.

I believe that it is a default function in SMF to have a spell check, whilst it is not present in phpBB. I'm sure that admin could install a modification for a spell check function, although it might take some time. He could also modify the forums himself using AJAX to add a spell check feature. I guess we'll have to wait and see what he says.

To my knowledge, a spell check feature is not present in the new version of the forum, either. :|

As a pretty new user on the forms I think that is a great Idea.I sometimes ends up opening a blank document just to make sure I am spelling things right, cause I can admit I am not a great speller. GREAT IDEA!!! {thumb2}

I have Mozilla Firefox so it helps me with the spelling anyways. It's like Microsoft word, when it's spelled wrong, there's a colored line under the word. But spell check is good also.

I think this is a great idea, but we don’t really have little children on here that cannon’t spell, but we don’t want to slow the forum up installing different things, many people have Microsoft word or something similar to this so post it there and copy it over. We need a voting box to see if members will use it. But if you’re messaging celebrities you need good spelling.
