We had several JM/TMs banned a while back, and a few rejoined and were made JM/TMs again, as at the time it wasnt noticed who they were.
Well once again a banned former-JM has rejoined, and again is a JM/TM instantly.
Is there a set rule on this not happening? If not, surely there should be, otherwise theres no point banning them in the first place!
I'm not against former JMs, or banned members becoming JMs again, but they must EARN it in my view. Making a new account after being banned, and then PMing admin is not earning anything.
Thoughts?

Admin, can't you do an ip check before making a user a jm/tm? Before it was stated that you are too busy, but this is part of your job on the forum. It only takes a few seconds, and the user can wait a few days before their status is moved up.

Bumping this in the hope a passing Moderator/admin notices it

Re: Whats the policy on banned members rejoining as Trainee Mods
IP Banning doesn't really help as IP's can be modified/changed/"faked", if I can be bold enough to use that word. I personally think that the concept of "Trainee Moderating" should be changed. Personally, Andy's idea of "earning" their rank as even a trainee is a brilliant idea. From past experience in site moderating, people who want to be Mod's must should some sort of involvement on the boards in a "positive" manner, not just "Great Job!" or asking random questions. Like actual involvement. They must be active, trustable members. Though I don't know about trust, especially those who tend to rip members off
Just my view on the moderator system.

I agree with dangel. I shouldn't be too hard for admin to do an IP check on people who want to be TM's
I think it's a simple but hopefully effective measure

Re: Whats the policy on banned members rejoining as Trainee Mods
Hi guys
I have looked at this and addressed it in the past.
Unfortunately there is not a lot to stop banned members from joining again with a different name
IP banning does not work, as many, many users use the same IP range. Unfortunately the only people we can ban successfully by IP are those who have a static IP address (which is not very many!!) Anyone who gets access to the internet via AOL, BT, YAHOO, etc all log on using a variable IP address. It can change EVERY time somebody accesses the internet
My own IP address changes every time I reboot my router
So the ban by IP idea sounds great, but in practice is very, very limited.
Anyway, before I go away for Christmas I will say Happy Christmas to all of you, and thank you for all your support! I will probably be able to be on here sometime on the 27th December, but in the meantime have a great and restful Christmas!
