Banning carefully

Hi all,
Admin have gave us Moderators / AE the power to ban members, just a quick reminder that we should do so carefully. This means that we should double check the member we are about to ban is guilty, before adding him/ her to the list.
Not saying anyone is doing anything wrong here, just a quick reminder to prevent unhappy faces ;)

How do you ban members?
For example this member: shocredor
Guilty of spamming in Russian and posting a link to a pornographic website on his profile.
I don't think I have the power to ban anyone, unless I am overlooking the option.

The "banning" option is under the "Moderator Control Pannel" however it may be the case that admin has not given everyone the power to ban.

I will ask adm if I can have the power to ban also. Today was not a good day spam wise. And deleting 30+ posts of spam while I could have just banned the member when it was happening would have made it a lot easier.

Yes guilder1st, it is very annoying when you kee deleting spams whilst the spammer keeps posting new ones :neutral:
Anyways, you are one of the very hard-working members on the fanmail.biz in terms of banning spammers, ask admin and there should be no reason that you cannot have the power to ban {thumb2}

I also dont have the power to ban. With a these spammers posts ive been deleting, it would be much easier just to ban them rather that wasting so much time deleting their posts, for them to post more!!

The thing with banning a user is that it does not automatically delete their posts - so you would still have to 'clean up their mess' after banning. It would be nice to see more mods who are able to ban, but right now I think it's pretty futile because admin just undoes all our hard work anyway

Guess he doesn't feel the same way. This is what he messaged back.
Hi guilder1st
If someone spam your forum please PM me, i will delete his account.
Fanmail
Honestly I will no longer be putting in time to keep the board clean. (like yesterday taking more than 30 minutes out of my day). I am an AE not a mod. I was just trying to help out, but at this point it seems futile.
@ Shambler Yes you still need to delete the messages, but like yesterday I was deleting them as he was posting them. If I could have banned him right away I wouldn't have had to delete 25+ messages.
