Hi all!

I'm strongly considering to quit my GM duties temporarily. :neutral: Mainly because of the spammer/idiot "Tony". Not only is he spamming our pm inboxes, hacking into our account, but he discovered my beloved personal autograph website, and spammed my guestbook with over 50 entries. I am heartbroken about this, as that website is my pride - I show it to everyone: family and friends. And now that happened, and I can only expect he's going to strike again. It took me over an hour (and 20 MB off my brand new internet contract) to delete his rubbish! :mad: I had to change my Guestbook so only Freewebs members can enter now.

And it's only because I'm a "GM" here... it's not worth it. I am not going to risk my privacy for moderating a forum with people like that. So, I would like me username to be "less visable" for a little while, so it doesn't stand out all green. So please, don't demote me but just set my default group as "Regular Member"!

Also, thanks to Clicky on Freewebs, I saw Tony's IP is: 89.18.180.142

I am SO very sorry to hear that this jerk has done this yet again to you!! You do not deserve this treatment at all!! This guy is a pure sicko and something must be done by the administration of this site to help protect us.

Admin, i think we need to put a 10-50 post count before we can have pm's. This would really help. And maybe have 5 posts before you can look at peoples profiles or specific areas on the forum.

We have to protect each other. I am really mad this is happening. Especially to one of our GM's that has devoted countless hours of her time to help this forum. And i know she loves it here. She is also my close friend on here and it hurts to see this.

I hope you do not leave us Lizzy. That would be devastating. But i understand you want to lay low. I will do anything to help you out. Just name it.

Zanne, you have been a great member on the forum and I am sorry to see you go--but I do hope it is only temporary--but I can certainly understand your concerns. If I was having them I'd have to do something like this too!

I can not blame you at all. I too have thought of just giving it all up. Sometimes I feel it isnt worth all the aggrevation that tony has caused. I get countless pms everyday. I just hope that you decide not to leave for good because you are an awesome gm. I would hate to see all the time and energy that you have put into this place go down the drain.

I feel your pain girl, Tony discovered that my own website is linked to yours and when i got up this morningto check it the amount of rubbish PM's was huge. He just wants to hurt everybody and thinks its a big joke and im sick of it.
I will be sad to see you leave even if it is only for a while, it shouldnt have come to this

Thank you for the kind messages and support, Chrissy, BossC, ozzman and Karissa. I appreciate you all so much and it's good to know that I have you guys at least. The worst of all was that my website got around 6+ visitors after Tony spammed my guestbook, so my reputation is broken now. I really hope he doesn't discover all of you guys' wonderful sites, that would make me so mad! :mad: I've reported his I address to the Freewebs team so I hope they do something about it. :neutral:

I agree 110% with this idea. At least 50 posts before sending members pm's, and at least 10 posts before viewing profiles. Only that will help stop him, nothing else - and I'm very sick of him and wouldn't think for a second to leave if something like this happens again. :neutral:

Also, I'd just like to inform you that I'm still a GM, I just changed my default group to "Registered Users". That's why my name is unbolded blue again.

Thank you for the great support, everyone - and ozzman, once again, I for one appreciate your help with stopping Tony from spamming us. {thumb2} I really hope that my username is less visable now, that he won't see me as easily, and I'll let you all know if it works!

I don't think your reputation can be broken that easily, certinatly not by a spammer named Tony :neutral: I'm sure you will will get your web hits back soon and the Freewebs team is very efficient so they should be able to sort something out for you {thumb2}

President Nixon once said "A man is not finished when he is defeated. He is finished when he quits." And it's so true, don't quit fanmail, don't quit making your web site great, and certinatly don't quit the hobby because of tony!

We are all here to help and support each other, and I do feel sorry for all the female users here, tony is a big jerk.

Thank you so much for the message, Jason - I feel a bit better now! I agree, it is true - I will not quit because of Tony! We simply must get rid of him, but I don't know how...

Very sorry to hear that Tony is still giving you (and other members for that matter) a hard time! It's not fair as you are a good person and haven't done anything to him! I just wish he'd leave you all alone and find a life!
I'm glad that you have changed your settings and hopefully that'll help lead him off for a while! It would've been horrible if you truly decided to leave being a GM for good! You are an asset to the GM and a wonderful member! It wouldn't be the same if you left! So take care and I hope things get better soon!

I'm so sorry to know that you're having to do with this kind of people.
I understand your disappointment after all the things you do for this forum.
I completely agree with the fact that admin should really do something to protect the users of this board.

Unfortunately I had to deal with someone who spammed my inbox during the last week as well. I guess we're talking about the same guy, cause the whole thing came out after a short private discussion I had with admin (probably someone hacked his account)...

I really hope we'll soon have the pleasure to see your name back in green
